Chapter 9: Sharing Workbooks with the Browser
For the examples in this chapter and in the following chapters, you need Excel 2007 installed and a
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server installed with Excel Services running. You also need to have at least
one trusted location set up. In these examples, the entire server is trusted. You use the default Shared
Documents document library under the root site. The server used in the step-by-step instructions and
screenshots is called TheExcelServer. Replace the server name in the examples with your server name.
Try It Out Publishing a Workbook to the Server
To publish a workbook to the server, follow these steps:
1.
Start Excel 2007 and load the Sales Report.xlsx workbook that is provided with this topic.
2.
From the Office menu button, select the Publish option to display the Publish fly-out shown in
Figure 9-1.
3.
Select the Excel Services option. The dialog box shown in Figure 9-2 is displayed.
4.
Enter the location where you want to save the workbook. This must be defined as a trusted
location on the server. Save the workbook to http://TheExcelServer/shared documents.
