Controlling Workbook Viewing
2.
On the Settings page, click the Permissions For This Document Library link under Permissions
and Management.
3.
On the Permissions page, select Add Users from the New drop-down menu on the toolbar.
There maybe additional users already listed on this page. This could be true if you were using an
existing document library, or if the library were inheriting permissions from the parent site. If this is the
case, and you want to ensure that only specific users can view the workbook and even fewer can open or
edit the original workbook, remove the unwanted users by checking the box next to their corresponding
usernames and select Remove User Permission from the Actions drop-down menu.
4.
On the Add Users page, type in the usernames for the users to whom you want to give only the
permission to view the workbook coming from the server.
There are two ways to give users permission to view workbooks into this library. You can either give
them the View Only permission, or you can add them to a SharePoint user group that has only this
permission. Out-of-the-box SharePoint has a Viewers group that is exactly that. This group isn’t available
on servers upgraded from previous versions.
5.
In the Give Permission section, ensure that the Give Users Permission Directly option is
selected.
6.
Check the View Only permission. The page should now look similar to Figure 11-19.
