First, although your default installation may already have created a Report Center, you create a new
Report Center in the following Try It Out so that you can see how it’s done. This exercise assumes that

Try It Out Creating a New Report Center
To create a new Report Center, follow these steps:
Open a browser with the home page for your Office SharePoint Server installation, or the site

Select Create Site from the Site Actions menu.
In the Site Creation page, type Sales Report Center in the Title field.
Type SalesReportCenter in the URL Name field.
In the Select A Template section, click the Enterprise tab.
Select the Report Center template, as shown in Figure 12-1.
Leave the rest of the selections at their default values and click Create at the bottom of the page.
A new site is created, which should look similar to the one shown in Figure 12-2.
The home page for the site reflects what BI portals commonly look like. There is introductory text that

and a place to highlight resources. You can customize each of these parts to make it relevant to your
BI portal implementation. For the purposes of the following exercises, leave them with their default
Though you can store any document and content type in Report Centers, they are designed for reports
and dashboards — the two primary building blocks of reporting portals.
