The Connection dialog box is displayed, which guides you through picking which Web
Part property and workbook parameter to provide the value to. The drop-down menu
presents three options: Get Workbook URL From, Get Named Item From, and Get Filter
Values From. The first two options allow you to drive which workbook and which name
item is displayed in the Web Part. You can set up a list of workbooks and/or named items
and provide the user with a simple way of switching between workbooks and items
without changing pages.
For the purpose of building the dashboard in this exercise, choose the Get Filter Values From
option and click the Configure button to map the filter value to a specific workbook parameter.
Because there is only one workbook parameter, Forecast, it is already selected. Click the Finish
The Web Parts on the dashboard update to notify you of the connection. The filter Web
Part shows that it is sending values to the Regional Sales Summary Web Part, and the
Regional Sales Summary Web Part shows that it is receiving values from the Forecast
Scenario filter.
