Platform Requirements
Software
You must also ensure that you meet the software requirements, including the correct operating system
and some specific Windows components and applications. The installation and configuration order for
these items is as follows:
1.
NTFS file system — The partition where MOSS will be installed must be the New Technology
File System (NTFS).
2.
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) — You can use the Standard, Enterprise,
or Datacenter installation for this. Web Edition is not supported for a single server.
3.
Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 — You configure this as a Web Server running IIS
6.0 in worker process isolation mode. IIS 6.0 configuration instructions are provided next in this
chapter.
4.
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 — You can download this from http://msdn.microsoft
.com/netframework/. ASP.NET 2.0 must be enabled after installing the Framework, and
instructions are provided later in this chapter.
5.
Microsoft Windows Workflow Foundation — This is a technology included in the Microsoft .NET
Framework 3.0 release (formerly known as WinFX). Download and install the Framework
from http://msdn.microsoft.com/winfx/default.aspx .
Installing IIS 6.0
Complete the following steps to configure your server as a Web Server with IIS 6.0 running in worker
process isolation mode:
1.
Choose Start
All Programs
Administrative Tools
Configure Your Server Wizard.
2.
Click Next on the Welcome to the Configure Your Server Wizard page, and then click Next on
the Preliminary Steps page.
3.
Select Application server (IIS, ASP.NET) on the Server Role page, and then click Next.
4.
Click Next on the Application Server Options page and then click Next on the Summary of
Selections page.
5.
When the configuration is completed, the message “This Server is Now an Application server”
is displayed. Click Finish.
If this is a new installation of Windows Server 2003 (and not an upgrade from Windows 2000), you
will not need to perform steps 6 through 9 because IIS 6.0 will already be configured to use IIS 6.0
worker process isolation mode.
6.
Choose Start
All Programs
Administrative Tools
Internet Information Services (IIS)
Manager.
7.
Locate the IIS Manager tree and click the plus sign (+) next to the server name, right-click the
Web Sites folder, and then click Properties.
8.
Click the Service tab in the Web Sites Properties dialog box.
9.
Deselect the Run WWW Service In IIS 5.0 Isolation Mode option and click OK.
