When you set a custom tab stop, you specify how the text will align at a tab stop. The
tab marker on the ruler refl ects the alignment of the characters at the location of the tab stop.
Table 3–1 shows types of tab stop alignments in Word and their corresponding tab markers.
To change an existing tab stop’s alignment, double-click the tab marker on the ruler to display
the Tabs dialog box (or display the
Tabs dialog box as described in the
steps on the previous page), click
the tab stop position you wish to
change, click the new alignment,
and then click the OK button. You
can remove an existing tab stop
by clicking the tab stop position
in the Tabs dialog box and then
clicking the Clear button in the
dialog box. To remove all tab
stops, click the Clear All button in
the Tabs dialog box.

To Specify Font Color before Typing
The address, phone, and e-mail information should be the same color as the name.
The following steps enter text using the most recently defi ned color.
1 Click the Font Color button on the Home tab so that the text you type will be the color
displayed on the face of the button.
What if the color I want is not displayed on the face of the Font Color button?
Click the Font Color button arrow and then click the desired color in the Font Color gallery.
2 With the insertion point positioned between the graphic and the paragraph mark (as shown
in Figure 3–19 on the previous page), press the TAB key to move the insertion point to the
6.5" mark on the ruler.
