To Insert the Current Date in a Document
The next step is to enter the current date at the 3.5" tab stop in the document, as specifi ed in the guidelines
for a modifi ed block style letter. Word provides a method of inserting a computer’s system date in a document. The
following steps insert the current date in the cover letter.

Press the TAB key.
Click Insert on the Ribbon to display the Insert tab.
Click the Insert Date and Time button on the Insert tab to display the Date and Time dialog box.
Click the desired format (in this case, May 12, 2008) in the dialog box.
