In Depth Information
You can also move either a text box or its label individually. If you want to move the
text box but not its label, for example, place the pointer on the text box’s move handle.
When the pointer changes to a shape, drag the text box to the new location. You use
the label’s move handle in a similar way to move only the label.
You’ll now arrange the controls to match Lucia’s design.
To move the ContractType bound control:
1. Position the pointer on one of the edges of the ContractType text box, but not on a
move handle or a sizing handle. When the pointer changes to a shape, drag the
control to the right until the left edge of the highlight on the horizontal ruler is at
the 3-inch mark, drag the control up until the top of the highlight on the vertical
ruler is just below the top of the SigningDate bound control, and then release the
mouse button. See Figure 6-23.

Trouble? If you need to make major adjustments to the placement of the
ContractType bound control, click the Undo button on the Quick Access
Toolbar one or more times until the bound control is back to its starting position,
and then repeat Step 1. If you need to make minor adjustments to the placement
of the ContractType bound control, use the arrow keys.
Now you need to align the ContractType and SigningDate bound controls on their top
edges. If you’ve selected a column of controls, you can align the left edges or the right
edges of the controls. If you’ve selected a row of controls, you can align the top edges or
the bottom edges of the controls. A fifth alignment option, To Grid, aligns selected con-
trols with the dots in the grid. You can find the five alignment options on the Arrange tab
of the Ribbon or on the shortcut menu. You’ll use the shortcut menu to align the two
bound controls. Then you’ll save the modified form and review your work in Form view.
To align the ContractType and SigningDate bound controls:
1. Make sure the ContractType bound control is selected, hold down the Shift key, click
the Contract Type label, click the SigningDate text box, click the Signing Date label,
and then release the Shift key. This action selects the four controls; each selected con-
trol has an orange border.
2. Right-click one of the selected controls, point to Align on the shortcut menu, and
then click Top . The four selected controls are aligned on their top edges. See
Figure 6-24.
