To resize windows and workspaces:
1. Click the Minimize button on the Word title bar. The Word program window
reduces to a taskbar button. The Excel program window is visible again.
2. If necessary, click the Maximize button
on the Excel title bar. The Excel pro-
gram window expands to fill the screen.
3. Click the Restore Window button in the lower set of Excel sizing buttons. The
workspace is resized and is now smaller than the full program window. See Figure 5.

4. Click the Maximize button on the Excel workbook window title bar. The Excel
workspace expands to fill the program window.
5. Click the Document1 - Microsoft Word button on the taskbar. The Word program
window returns to its previous size.
6. If necessary, click the Maximize button
on the Word title bar. The Word pro-
gram window expands to fill the screen.
The sizing buttons give you the flexibility to arrange the program and file windows on
your screen to best fit your needs.
Getting Information from the Status Bar
The status bar at the bottom of the program window provides information about the
open file and current task or selection. It also has buttons and other controls for working
with the file and its content. The status bar buttons and information displays are specific
to the individual programs. For example, the Excel status bar displays summary informa-
tion about a selected range of numbers (such as their sum or average), whereas the Word
