PivotTables: Data Aggregation Without the Aggravation
Imagine that you’re planning a dinner for
your organization and you need to assign
the invitees to their tables. You start with a
database that looks like Figure 8–1.

Now while it’s true that you could simply
sort the data by table number, that
approach won’t tell you how many guests
are seated at each table. What you really
want to see is something like Figure 8–2.
