Did You Know?
In subtracting times that cross
midnight, such as 11 p.m. to 2
a.m., you need a programming
function called modulus, or MOD .
The formula is =MOD (later time –
earlier time, 1). Thanks to John
Walkenbach’s Excel 2003 Bible
(Wiley Publishing, 2003) for
this tip.
Did You Know?
If subtracting times or dates yields
a negative time or date, this error
is reflected by a series of pound
signs (######).
Did You Know?
Showing a time or date in the
General format displays its serial
value. Use a Time or Date format
to display a recognizable date or
time. To display a time in
hour:minute format, right-click it,
click Format Cell, click Time, and
click the 13:30 format.
