To Use Save As to Change the Name of a File
You might want to save a i le with a different name and even to a different location.
For example, you might start a homework assignment with a data i le and then save it with
a i nal i le name for submitting to your instructor, saving it to a location designated by
your instructor. The following steps save a i le with a different i le name.

With your USB l ash drive connected to one of the computer’s USB ports, click File on the
Ribbon to open the Backstage view.

Click Save As in the Backstage view to display the Save As dialog box.
Type Brain Busters Rental Summary in the File name text box (Save As
dialog box) to change the i le name. Do not press the ENTER key after typing the i le name
because you do not want to close the dialog box at this time.

Navigate to the desired save location (the Excel folder in the CIS 101 folder [or your class
folder] on the USB l ash drive, in this case). For specii c instructions, perform the tasks in
steps 4a through 4g.

If a navigation pane is not displayed in the Save As dialog box, click the Browse Folders
button to expand the dialog box.

If Computer is not displayed in the navigation pane, drag the navigation pane scroll bar
(Save As dialog box) until Computer appears.

If Computer is not expanded in the navigation pane, double-click Computer to display a
list of available storage devices in the navigation pane.

If necessary, scroll through the Save As dialog box until your USB l ash drive appears in the
list of available storage devices in the navigation pane.

If your USB l ash drive is not expanded, double-click the USB l ash drive in the list of
available storage devices in the navigation pane to select that drive as the new save
location and display its contents in the right pane.

If your class folder (CIS 101, in this case) is not expanded, double-click the CIS 101 folder to
select the folder and display its contents.

Double-click the Excel folder to select it and display its contents in the right pane.

Click the Save button (Save As dialog box) to save the i le in the selected folder on the
selected drive with the new i le name.
To Quit an Ofi ce Program
You are i nished using Excel. The following steps quit Excel.

If you have one Ofi ce document open, click the Close button on the right side of the title
bar to close the document and quit the Ofi ce program; or if you have multiple Ofi ce
documents open, click File on the Ribbon to open the Backstage view and then click Exit
in the Backstage view to close all open documents and quit the Ofi ce program.

If a dialog box appears, click the Save button to save any changes made to the i le since
the last save.
