SharePoint Services , or SPS , provides a remote location, or server, that you can
access over the Internet. Sometimes people refer to this type of service as a
portal . It is designed for collaboration and document management within a
team. Typically, each team within an organization will have its own SPS
portal. When you have access to SPS, you can do a variety of things, such as:

n Share lists of important information, such as contacts
