Setting Up a Graphic on Which to Test Effect
Themes
Effect themes are most evident when you use colorful 3-D graphics, so do the following to construct
a dummy diagram that you can use to try out effect themes:

1. Switch to Slide Master view.
2. Click Insert

SmartArt. The Choose a SmartArt Graphic dialog box
opens.
3. Click Cycle, click the top left diagram, and click OK. A SmartArt diagram appears on
the slide master.
4. On the SmartArt Tools Design tab, click Change Colors, and click the fi rst sample
under Colorful.
5. On the SmartArt Tools Design tab, open the SmartArt Styles gallery and click the
fi rst sample under 3-D.
Now you have a diagram on which you can see the effect themes applied. After using this diagram to
help you choose the desired effect theme, delete the diagram from the slide master. To delete the
diagram, select the diagram’s outer frame and press the Delete key on the keyboard.
