YOU: I can create a form for you to enter the orders quickly, and queries will help you with the other

SUSAN: I would love to see a listing of the best-selling products, the best-selling colors, and a list of who
my best customers have been. That way, I can send them coupons for future work and hope to

YOU: How about creating the bills to send out to customers?
I would like to have a list of all my customers with their orders individually noted, and a
summary of what they owe me. I could pass the list on to my collection agency, which handles all
my unpaid bills. In addition, I often give a 10% discount to customers in the next city, Glendale,
to create more repeat business.
In this assignment, you will design your database tables using a word-processing program. Pay close attention to
the tables
logic and structure. Do not start developing your Access code in Assignment 2 before getting
feedback from your instructor on Assignment 1. Keep in mind that you will need to examine the requirements in
Assignment 2 to design your fields and tables properly. It is good programming practice to look at the required
outputs before beginning your design. When designing the database, observe the following guidelines:
First, determine the tables you will need by listing the name of each table and the fields it
should contain. Avoid data redundancy. Do not create a field if it can be created by a
calculated field
in a query.
You will need transaction tables. Think about what business events occur with each customer
actions. Avoid duplicating data.
Document your tables using the table feature of your word processor. Your tables should
resemble the format shown in Figure 4-1.
You must mark the appropriate key field(s) by entering an asterisk (*) next to the field name.
Keep in mind that some tables might need a compound primary key to uniquely identify a
record within a table.
