Creating hyperlinks
To create a hyperlink, click the cell in which you want to insert the hyperlink and then, on
the Insert tab, click Hyperlink. The Insert Hyperlink dialog box opens.
KEYBOARD SHORTCUT Press Ctrl+K to open the Insert Hyperlink dialog box. For a complete
list of keyboard shortcuts, see “Keyboard shortcuts” at the end of this topic.
You can choose one of four types of targets, or destinations, for your hyperlink: an existing
file or webpage, a place in the current document, a new document you create on the spot,
or an email address. By default, the Insert Hyperlink dialog box displays the tools to connect
to an existing file or webpage.
To create a hyperlink to another file or webpage, you can use the Look In navigation tool
to locate the file. If you recently opened the file or webpage to which you want to link, you
can click either the Browsed Pages or the Recent Files button to display the webpages or
files in your History list.
If you want to create a hyperlink to another place in the current Excel workbook, you can
click the Place In This Document button to display a list of available targets in the current
