Using Functions for Non-English Character Sets
Note
The following functions are beyond the scope of this edition: ASC,
BAHTTEXT, FINDB, JIS, LEFTB, MIDB, PHONETIC, REPLACEB,
RIGHTB, SEARCHB, and YEN. Even so, these functions are described
earlier in this chapter in Table 11.3 .
=VALUE() converts text that looks like a number or a date to the number or
the date.
Using Functions for Non-English Character Sets
Eleven more functions have not been covered in this section. These functions
deal with text in character systems where each character takes up more than
1 byte. This is true in many Asian languages.
