Using Commas Helps Flash Fill

Flash Fill gives you the first word from column D in column F.
But in real life, bad data isn ’ t pretty. If someone has set out to personally
annoy you by saving city and state in a single column, you can bet they
aren ’ t going to annoy you less by adding a comma for you.
In the example in Figure 2.9 , Flash Fill isn ’ t perfect the first time around.
But with a simple correction from you, Flash Fill works correctly.
Let ’ s say you want to isolate the city into its own column. Type Fairbanks
in F2 and then type B from Birmingham in F3. Flash fill goes to work and fills
in all of the cells for you.
This does not work for cities that have two words in the name. Las Vegas in
row 4 becomes Las. St. Louis in row 11 is just St. Fort Worth in row 16 is
Fort. Cocoa Beach in row 19 is Cocoa.
