SHAREPOINT WORKSPACE
SharePoint Workspace comes with Office 2010 Pro Plus and is a client-side product (basically the old
Groove client, minus some features) that lets users work with SharePoint locally. The users connect
SharePoint Workspace to the site and select which lists or libraries to work with.
The product lets users easily drag and drop files from their desktops to libraries, allows the user to
work with a list’s or library’s content while ofline, and then lets them (ideally) synchronize with
those resources when they are back online.
Obviously, there will be lists (such as those containing confidential client information) that you
might not want stored ofline on someone’s laptop. In this case, you would want to be sure to change
the Ofline Client Availability setting to No.
Datasheet This option can be set to No if, for some reason, you do not want users to be
able to do bulk data entry or editing on the list in datasheet view. It is enabled by default.
Dialogs This option is set to Yes by default and is why all forms open in a sort of Flash/
Silverlight dialog box. If you want the forms to open to their own page instead of a box,
set it to No.

3. For our purposes, everyone should be able to see all the Customer contacts but only be
able to edit the ones they entered themselves, so change the Create and Edit Access
setting in Item-Level Permissions to Create And Edit Items that were created by the user.
