IIS BINDINGS AND AAM
In some cases, creating the new internal URL isn’t sufficient; you also need to manually create the
associated binding in IIS. In my example, that would mean editing the Sharepoint-8080 IIS Web
Site and adding a binding for http://blogs on port 80. So if the internal URL you create doesn’t
work for you, that might be the ix you need.
Just as you do with all URLs, you need to make sure new internal URLs exist in DNS and
point to the server.

You can also edit public URLs from the Alternate Access Mapping page. For example, you can
quickly add a new public URL for an unused zone (or change the URL for an existing zone) and
