Installing Software Prerequisites
Once you are ready to install, you have two options: install the prerequisites required for
SharePoint’s installation or install SharePoint. In this example, let’s assume you don’t have any of
the prerequisites installed on the server, so you might as well let SharePoint install them for you.
1. Given that, click Install Software Prerequisites.
That will open a wizard page titled Welcome To The Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products
Preparation Tool (Figure 2.3). This is the wizard that will install and configure all the
prerequisites for SharePoint for you. It lists, for your convenience, all the items that will
be installed and/or enabled in preparation for a SharePoint install. These are the items
listed earlier in this chapter and detailed in Chapter 1.
2. After checking out the prerequisites to be sure you want them on your server, you can click
the link to learn more (if you have Internet access). When you are ready, click Next to begin.
