3. Let’s take a look at both of them, because you need to know what they’re both for. To
start, let’s check out the latest and greatest IIS console for the operating system (either
7 or 7.5). To do so, select Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager from the menu
(they don’t bother to indicate the version, since it’s the one that is native to the OS).
This will open the IIS manager console. In the navigation pane on the left side of the console,
you’ll notice that Start Page is selected, and beneath it is an icon for the local server (in my case,
SPF1). If you click the plus sign next to the local server icon, it will drop down a short list
containing Application Pools and Sites items. And if you click the plus sign next to Sites, you’ll see
that there is only one default site (Figure 2.14).
