“ISN’T THERE AN SMTP EMAIL SETTING IN THE IIS 7 CONSOLE?”
Yes, there is a SMTP setting in the IIS manager console for the more recent version, but that only
uses an existing SMTP set up somewhere else; it isn’t where you configure SMTP even if it’s enabled
locally. The IIS 6.0 console is for that.
In addition, if you’d like to check to see what folders were created for SMTP, open
%intepub%\mailroot. As expected, the folders stored there are Badmail, Drop, Pickup,
and Queue (Figure 2.24). It never hurts to know where those are, should you need to
troubleshoot incoming email someday.
