Pretzel Piazza You are working for Pretzel Piazza during your summer break. This shop
offers a large variety of coffees and teas, but its specialty is gourmet pretzels. The pretzels
come in a wide variety of fl avors, from standard salted pretzels to the most decadent
Belgian chocolate-covered pretzels. There are pretzels covered with a variety of
chocolate, caramel, nuts, and candies. The owners of Pretzel Piazza have a Web site, but they
are wondering if using Twitter or Facebook might be a better way to advertise their
products to a wider customer base. After researching these topics, you will report back to the
owners with your recommendation. Complete the following:
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. Use a search engine to fi nd information on the latest trends in marketing and
advertising. You should visit at least three different sites. Use WordPad, which is
available from the Accessories menu of the All Programs menu, to create a report on
what you’ve learned about the latest trends in marketing and advertising. Be sure to
include the name of each Web site and its URL in your report. Save the report with
the fi lename Trends in the BEB\Case3 folder provided with your Data Files.
3. Using a search engine, fi nd information on using Twitter and Facebook as
marketing and advertising tools on three Web sites. Do any of the sites provide RSS feeds
or Web Slices? If so, what kind of content is available? Use WordPad to create a
report that lists the pros and cons of Twitter and Facebook as marketing and
advertising tools. Give your opinion on which you think is the most effective tool. Save the
report with the fi lename Twitter vs Facebook in the BEB\Case3 folder provided with
your Data Files.
4. Using the History list, open separate tabs for the three Web sites that you feel
provide the most helpful information, and then save the tab group as a favorite. ( Hint :
Click the Favorites button, click the Add to Favorites button arrow, click Add Current
Tabs to Favorites, enter a folder name for the group, and then click the Add button.)
5. Display the open Web pages as thumbnails. Capture an image of the Internet
Explorer window by pressing the Alt+Print Screen keys. Start WordPad, and paste the
screen image in a new fi le using the Ctrl+V keys. Save the fi le as Marketing in the
BEB\Case3 folder provided with your Data Files.
6. Using Windows Live Mail, send an email message to your instructor describing an
Accelerator you think would be useful for students who attend your college. Attach
the Trends, Twitter vs Facebook, and Marketing fi les.
7. Close Windows Live Mail and Internet Explorer.

Using Accelerators Accelerators are services provided by Web sites. Internet Explorer 8
comes with several Accelerators, including Bing Maps and Translate with Bing. To learn
more about Accelerators, including how to manage Accelerators, complete the following:
1. Start Internet Explorer, and search for Internet Explorer 8 Accelerators.
2. Using the results page, fi nd out what kinds of Accelerators are offered by Internet
Explorer 8 in addition to maps and stock market information. Use WordPad, which
is available on the Accessories menu of the All Programs menu, to create a report
that lists at least fi ve Accelerators that you would fi nd helpful, along with a brief
