Outlook’s Calendar, Tasks,
and Notes
Busy people can use a little help keeping track of all they have to do. Emails fly
into your Inbox, inviting you to meetings and “asking” you to get things done.
Your boss sends a list of to-do’s; your coworker needs help with a project; and
you’ve got so many conference calls lined up that it’s only a matter of time before you
forget to call your honey.
Outlook brings together the tools you need to get organized, keep up with your busy
schedule, and stay on top of your to-do list:
Calendar lets you schedule and view appointments, meetings, and other events.
You can see what’s on tap for today or take a longer view, keeping an eye on
events by week or month. Invite others to attend a meeting, set real-time
reminders so you won’t be late, and schedule recurring events with ease.
Tasks are super-helpful for list makers, thanks to an easy-to-manage To-Do
List. Outlook organizes your tasks by their due date—helpful for spotting
deadlines. You can even assign a task to someone else—lucky them.
Notes are a flexible way to jot down things you need to remember—and easily
find again. They’re quick to write, and you can view and group them in different
ways, just like you were arranging sticky notes on a bulletin board.
These tools all work together (and with Outlook Mail), so you won’t get buried
under a mountain of to-do’s and shoulda-done’s.
Your Schedule, Your Calendar
To see your Outlook calendar, click the Navigation pane’s Calendar button or press
Ctrl+2. When you open its folder, the view you see looks something like Figure 13-1.
