Import Data from an XML File
Chapter 7: Importing Data into Excel
The Import Data dialog
box appears.
9 Click to select the XML
Table in Existing
Worksheet option.
0 Click OK.
Excel imports the data
into the worksheet as an
XML table.
Customize It!
You can use the XML Source pane to
control the fields that display in the XML
table, create your own XML maps, and
more. The easiest way to display the XML
Source pane is to add the XML button
to the Quick Access Toolbar. Right-click
the Quick Access Toolbar, click Customize
Quick Access Toolbar, use the Choose
Commands From list to click All
Commands, click XML, click Add, and then
click OK.
More Options!
If there are fields in the XML list that you
do not want to use, you can remove
them. First display the XML Source pane
by clicking the XML button that you added
in the previous Tip. The XML Source pane
displays a list of the fields — called
elements in the XML table. To remove an
element, right-click it and then click
Remove Element. To add an element back
into the XML list, right-click the element
and then click Map Element.
