Save a Custom Workbook Theme
Save a Custom
Workbook Theme
You can save time and gain more control over
formatting your Excel workbooks by creating
and saving a custom workbook theme, which
customizes workbook colors, fonts, and effects.
You can then apply this theme to future
workbooks.
In Excel, a workbook theme is a predefined
collection of formatting options that you can
apply all at once just by selecting a different
theme. Each theme comes with preset formatting
in three categories: color scheme, font scheme,
and effect scheme (which includes formatting
such as drop shadows and 3-D effects).
If none of the predefined themes offer the
exact formatting you require, you can modify
any theme by selecting a different color
scheme, font scheme, or effects scheme. You
can even create your own custom color and
font schemes, as described in the sections,
“Create a Custom Color Scheme” and “Create
a Custom Font Scheme.”
However, if you go to all this trouble to get
your workbook formatting just right, it is
time-consuming to have to repeat the same
steps for other workbooks you open or create.
To avoid this problem, you can save your
theme customizations as a new workbook
theme. This enables you to apply the custom
formatting to any workbook just by selecting
the custom theme.
