Enlarging a table

In the Save As text i eld, type word0702_done , and then click Save.
In this lesson, you’ll combine the cells in a table row to accommodate the section title. You’ll
then split a table row into smaller cells.

In word0702_done, click and drag to select columns 2 and 3 in row 7. This selection
should include the blank cell next to 7 as well as the cell that contains the text, Floor
and Tiles.

On the Table Tools tab, click Layout.

In the Merge group, click Merge Cells.
Merge Cells merges the selected cells into one cell.
Word merges columns 2 and 3 to create one large cell.

Click anywhere in row 13. In the Merge group on the Ribbon, click Split Cells.
Split Cells splits the selected cells into multiple new cells.
Word displays the Split Cells dialog box.
The Split Cells dialog box lets you
split a large cell into smaller cells.

In the Number of columns text i eld, type . Word splits the cell into three equal parts. 3
You’ll now adjust the cells to match the rest of the table.

Hover your mouse over the i rst line to the right of the number 13 until the cursor
changes to a double-sided arrow.

Click and drag the line to meet the line to the right of the number in row 12.

Hover your mouse over the second line to the right of the number 13 until the cursor
again changes to a double-sided arrow.
