Introducing the graphics tools
You can insert pictures, clip art, shapes, SmartArt, charts, and screenshots into a Word
document. You’ll i nd the Illustrations group on the Insert tab.
The Illustrations group lets you insert
graphic elements, such as clip art.
Depending on which graphic element you choose to insert, Word provides a set of tools
associated with the element. For example, if you insert a shape, Word displays the Drawing
Tools tab, which of ers tools like shape styles and color i lls.
In this exercise, you will open an existing document located in the Word08lessons folder.
To open the document you need for this lesson:
Launch Word.
Choose File > Open and navigate to the Word08lessons folder.
Click word0801, and then click Open.
Select File > Save As and in the File Name text i eld, type word0801_done . Press Save.
Adding WordArt
WordArt is decorative text that you can add to a document as an eye-catching visual eff ect. It
comes in handy when designing logos for T-shirts and l yers. WordArt is also very helpful in
creating greeting cards.
In this exercise, you’ll select some existing text and apply WordArt to it.
In the word0801_done document, place the cursor to the left of Happy Birthday Rocky! ,
and triple-click to select this text.
