Introducing the graphics tools
Adding a caption
A caption is a title (such as Figure 1 ) or explanation that can identify or explain an image. In
this exercise, you’ll add a caption to the chart in the word0803_done document.

Click the chart and then click the References tab on the Ribbon. In the Captions group,
click Insert Caption.

In the Caption text i eld, type a : (colon) after Figure 1 , and then type The Cookie
Place shows a proi t .

In the Label drop-down menu, select Figure, if it is not already selected.
The Caption dialog box lets you position the caption.

In the Position drop-down menu, select Above selected item, and then click OK. Word
applies the caption to the i gure.
To delete a caption, select it and click Delete.
You can now save and close this document.

Click File > Save, and then click File > Close.
