Exploring the OneNote environment
OneNote has two main views that you will be concerned with: Notebook View and
Backstage View. Notebook View appears after you open OneNote, so let’s start with that.
Notebook view
OneNote comes with a sample Notebook. Let’s take a closer look at the Notebook and its
components, and also become familiar with the OneNote graphical user interface (GUI)
or environment.
Open OneNote by doing one of the following:
Click Start > All Programs > Microsoft Oi ce > Microsoft OneNote.
Click Start, type OneNote in the Search text box, and click on Microsoft OneNote 2010.
If there is a desktop shortcut for OneNote, double-click it.

The OneNote window appears, displaying a page of the sample Notebook. The cursor is
over the Expand/Collapse Navigation Bar button.
