Understanding Microsoft Word
Quick Access Toolbar
The Quick Access Toolbar is used to quickly access tools that you use most often when
working within Word. This toolbar is located at the top-left corner of the Word window. For
the Quick Access Toolbar, you can modify many settings, such as what is displayed on the
toolbar and whether it is displayed over or under the ribbon.
You will display the toolbar under the ribbon and add the Spelling and Grammar icon to it.
To customize the Quick Access Toolbar:

Click the Customize Quick Access Toolbar icon ( ).

Check the following options, if they are not already selected:
New
Save
Spelling & Grammar
Undo
Redo
Show Below the Ribbon
Customizing the Quick Access Toolbar lets
you add commands that you use often.

Click anywhere outside of the menu to close it.
If you do not see the option you want on the list, click More Commands. Word displays a list of
commands that you can select and add to the Quick Access Toolbar.
