**Using Functions in Names**

Here’s another example of a named formula that uses a function. Create a formula with the name

SumA, defined this way:

=SUM(Sheet1!$A:A$)

As you might expect, this named formula returns the sum of all values in column A.

Note that the name is defined by using absolute references. This is critical. If you use

relative references, the formula evaluates differently, depending on the location of the

active cell.
