Types of Controls on Forms
Control Button
Control Type
Description
Text box
Contents of a field.
Label
Text, not editable. Hyperlinks are
special types of labels (see “Adding
hyperlink controls,” later in this chapter).
Button
Button that performs an action when
clicked.
Tab control
Tab for displaying different controls,
like the tabs at the top of many dialog
boxes.
Hyperlink
Clickable link to a web page or other
object.
Web browser
control
Web browser window displaying the
web page you specify in the properties
of the control.
Navigation
Tab for displaying forms or reports
from your database (see Chapter 3 of
this minibook).
Option group
Group of option (radio) buttons, check
boxes, or toggle buttons.
Insert page break
Division between one form page and
the next.
Combo box
Drop-down menu that allows you to
choose an option or type a new one.

Straight line, for visual effect.
Toggle button
Button that’s either on (pressed) or off
(not pressed).
List box
Drop-down menu from which you can
choose an option; you can’t type a
new value.
Rectangle
Rectangle, for visual effect.
