Changing the number of columns
2 On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click the Columns
button. In the gallery that opens, click the option for One.
3 If you prefer, on the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, you can
click Center (shortcut, Ctrl+E) to center the heading text on the
page. You can also format the heading paragraph with shading or a
border, which will extend across the page.

TIP When you select text and then change the number of
columns, Word automatically inserts Continuous section breaks
before and after the selection.
