Inserting a watermark
6 Back in the Printed Watermark dialog box, type a value in the Scale
box or click an item in its drop-down list to specify the size of the
picture.
7 By default, the Washout check box is selected, which fades the
picture to make the foreground text in the document readable. If it
fades the watermark too much, clear the Washout check box.

CAuTIon Print a page of the document to verify the size and
transparency of the watermark before you start a large print
run. If you selected a built-in text watermark and alternating letters
don’t print, open the Printed Watermark dialog box and clear the check
box for the Semitransparent option.
TRY ThIs A watermark in Word 2013 is actually a WordArt
object or a picture that’s inserted in the header area and then
positioned in the middle of the page. You can open the header pane
and click the object to select it. If it’s text, use the commands on the
WordArt Tools contextual tab to change its shape, size, color, and so
forth. If it’s a picture, use the commands on the Picture Tools contex-
tual tab to change its brightness, contrast, color, and other formatting.
