updating a table of contents
Whenever you add or remove text or graphics, change page
dimensions, or do anything else that affects the layout of
your document, the page numbers or the items in the table
of contents might need to change. Word 2013 gives you the
choice to update the page numbers only, or to update the
entire table, if entries must be added or removed.

1 Click inside the content control that contains the table of contents,
but not on any of the hyperlinked entries.
2 When the content control’s tag appears at the upper-left corner,
click Update Table.
3 In the Update Table Of Contents dialog box, click the option that
you want and then click OK.
