Using wildcard find and replace
use wildcards in a Replace expression
1 In a new blank document, type a list of names in “last-name, first-
name” order, without middle names or initials, one per paragraph.
2 On the Home tab, click Replace.
The Find And Replace dialog box opens.

3 Click More and select the Use Wildcards check box.
4 In the Find What box, type (<*>), (<*>)(^13) , including a space
after the comma.
5 In the Replace With box, type \2 \1\3 , including a space after the 2.
6 Click the Replace All button. The names are reordered as “first-
name last-name.”
