This part of the topic deals with the Data menu features of Excel. It discusses and
covers the following topics:
Sorting data

Filters
n
Creating and using Data Forms

Grouping data

Subtotals

Pivot Tables

This new edition covers the new Excel Slicers. The Slicer is available only on
Excel 2010. It is not available on the Mac or other versions of Excel.

In order to make the best use of all Excel features when using lists or tables, the
databases must be setup in a specific way.
Following are some basic rules for the setup before starting the actual data
processing:
The first row of the database must contain headers.
n
All these headers have to be unique headers
avoid using the same header
n
names.
The list can have any number of columns and any number of rows within the
sheet boundaries.
n
The databases should not have blank rows or columns within the database/
range.
n
If the list/database doesn
t start in row 1, there must be at least one blank row
n
above the headers.
If the list doesn
t start in column A, you should have at least one blank column to
the left of the list.
