APPENDIX: USING THE SOLVER IN EXCEL 2003 AND MAC EXCEL

2011

Excel 2003

The only difference for using the Solver Add-in in Excel 2003 or earlier versions is

just the way to find and activate it. To find the Add-in, use the Tools menu. The

Solver should be visible as you see in Figure 34.11.

If the Solver is not visible when you select the Tool menu in Excel 2003, you will

have to activate it. To activate the Solver:

Click on the Tools menu.

Select Add-Ins.

Check the Solver Add-in box as shown in Figure 34.12.

Once the Solver is activated, you can follow the same procedure described earlier

in the chapter.

Mac Excel 2011

The only difference in using the Solver Add-in for Mac Excel 2011 is just the way

to find and activate it. You will find the Add-in under the Tools Menu. The Solver

should be visible as you see in Figure 34.13. Will also see it under the Data

Ribbon.

If the Solver is not visible when you select the Tool menu or the Data Ribbon in

Mac Excel 2011, you will have to activate it. To activate the Solver:
