Changing Line Spacing in a Document

Click in the paragraph you want to change, or select multiple paragraphs.
Click the list arrow next to the Line Spacing button on the Formatting toolbar, and then
click the line spacing you want.

Press Ctrl+1 for single spacing, Ctrl+5 for 1.5 line spacing, or Ctrl+2 for double spacing.
Marilee thinks the document will be easier to read with more spacing between the
lines. She has asked you to change the line spacing for the entire Tree FAQ document to
1.5 line spacing. You will begin by selecting the entire document.
To change the document’s line spacing:
1. Triple-click in the selection bar to select the entire document.
2. Move the mouse pointer over the Line Spacing button on the Formatting toolbar to
display its ScreenTip. You see the text “Line Spacing (1),” indicating that single spacing is
currently selected.
3. Click the Line Spacing list arrow on the Formatting toolbar. A list of line spacing
options appears, as shown in Figure 2-19. To double space the document, you click 2.0,
while to triple space it, you click 3.0. In this case, you need to apply 1.5 line spacing.

4. Click 1.5 . Notice the additional space between every line of text in the document.
5. Move the mouse pointer over the Line Spacing button on the Formatting toolbar to
display a ScreenTip that reads “Line Spacing (1.5).” This tells you that 1.5 spacing is cur-
rently selected.
6. Click the title to deselect the text.
Now you are ready to make formatting changes that affect individual paragraphs.
