In Depth Information
Session 1.2
To check the spelling in the Orders sheet:
1. Make sure the Orders sheet is the active sheet, and then click cell G5 . You will enter the
error in this cell.
2. Type Totale and then click cell A1 . The Spell Checker always starts at the active cell in the
worksheet. You can start from other cells, and the Spell Checker will cycle back to the first
cell in the worksheet to continue checking each cell for spelling errors. However, you will find
it helpful and more efficient to begin spell checking with the first cell in the sheet, cell A1.
3 . Click the Spelling button on the Standard toolbar. The Spelling dialog box opens, with
the first word that the spell checker does not recognize, “Totale.” See Figure 1-32.

4 . Click Total in the list of suggestions, and then click the Change button. The word “Totale”
changes to “Total,” and then Spell Checker continues to look for other potential spelling
errors. There shouldn’t be any other errors in this workbook.
Trouble? If there are any other errors (you may have misspelled a name, address, or
item), fix them before continuing to the next step.
5. Click the OK button to close the Spell Checker.
Previewing and Printing a Worksheet
Sandra would like a printed hard copy of the Dalton workbook for her records. You can
print the contents of your workbook either by using the Print command on the File menu
or by clicking the Print button on the Standard toolbar. If you use the Print command,
Excel opens the Print dialog box in which you can specify which worksheets you want to
print, the number of copies, and the print quality. If you click the Print button, your work-
sheet will print using the options already set in the Print dialog box. If you want to change
a setting, you must open the Print dialog box using the File menu.
Before sending a worksheet to the printer, you should preview how the worksheet will
appear as a printed page. You can display the worksheet in the Print Preview window
either by selecting the Print Preview command on the File menu or by clicking the Print
Preview button on the Standard toolbar. You can also click the Preview button in the Print
dialog box. Previewing the printout is a helpful way to avoid printing errors.
