Excel Charts
Alicia’s sales data has already been entered into a workbook for you. You will begin by
opening the workbook so you can examine the sales data.

To open Alicia’s workbook:
1. Start Excel and then open the Vega1 workbook located in the Tutorial.04\Tutorial folder
included with your Data Files.
2. Enter your name and the current date in the Documentation sheet.
3. Save the workbook as Vega2 to the Tutorial folder, and then switch to the Sales worksheet
to view the sales data as shown in Figure 4-1.

Sales worksheet for Vega Telescopes
The Sales worksheet shows the annual sales, in U.S. dollars, for each of the four Vega
telescope models. The sales data is broken down by world regions. As Alicia has
explained, she wants two charts. The first chart should show the sales for each telescope
in each region represented by columns, in which the height of the column represents the
sales volume for each model. The second should be a pie chart that interprets how the
total sales of each telescope model relate to overall sales. Sketches of the charts Alicia
wants to create are shown in Figure 4-2.
