Embedding an Excel Chart in a Word Document
Embedding an Object
Reference Window
Start the source program, open the file containing the object to be embedded, select the
object or information you want to embed in the destination program, and then click the
Copy button on the Standard toolbar.
Start the destination program, open the file that will contain the embedded object, and
then position the insertion point where you want to place the object.
Click Edit on the menu bar, and then click Paste Special to open the Paste Special dialog box.
In the Paste Special dialog box, click the Paste option button, click Microsoft Office Excel
Chart Object in the As list box, and then click the OK button.
or
In the source file, select the object or information you want to embed, and then click the
Copy button on the Standard toolbar.
Start the destination program, open the file that will contain the embedded object, and
then position the insertion point where you want to place the object.
Click the Paste button on the Standard toolbar in the destination program.
Click the Paste Options button that appears in the document window, and then click
Excel Chart (entire workbook).
Now you can embed the pie chart in the hospital letter using the Paste Special dia-
log box.
To embed the Excel chart in the Word document:
1. Scroll down until you can see all of the pie chart in the worksheet, and then click the chart
area (the white area around the pie) to select the chart. When the chart is selected, sizing
handles appear around the chart area. See Figure 1-6.
