Microsoft Office Tutorials and References
In Depth Information
Read This Before You Begin: Tutorials 1-4
To complete Access Tutorials 1-4, you need the starting Data Files. See the inside back or front cover for information
on downloading these files from course.com, or ask your instructor for assistance. The following table identifies each
starting Data File and the folder it is stored in, as well as the ending files, which you create and save in each tutorial.
Note that the Data Files you work with in each Access tutorial build on the work you did in the previous tutorial. So,
when you begin Tutorial 3, for example, you will use the Data Files that resulted after you completed the steps in
Tutorial 2, the Tutorial 2 Review Assignments, and the Tutorial 2 Case Problems.
Storing Your Files
It is recommended that you store all your Data Files on a USB drive. Refer to the tutorial “Managing
Your Files” for information on using USB drives. If you need to store your Data Files on floppy disks, you
will need six high-density disks to store all the files for Access Tutorials 1-4.
SAM 2003 Training Companion CD
The SAM 2003 Training Companion CD that comes with this text gives you “just-in-time” training and
reinforcement of important Microsoft Office skills. Look for the SAM CD logo throughout each tutorial
for opportunities to complete the hands-on tasks included on this CD.
Access Tutorial 1 features an interactive Course Lab to help you understand database concepts. There
are Lab Assignments at the end of Tutorial 1 that relate to this lab. Contact your instructor or technical
support person for assistance in accessing this lab.
