Session 2.2
The F2 key is a toggle that you use to switch between navigation mode and editing mode:
• In navigation mode , Access selects an entire field value. If you type while you are in
navigation mode, your typed entry replaces the highlighted field value.
• In editing mode , you can insert or delete characters in a field value based on the location
of the insertion point.
Figure 2-34 shows some of the navigation mode and editing mode keystroke techniques.

The record Elsa wants you to change has a PositionID field value of 2125. Some of the
values were entered incorrectly for this record, and you need to enter the correct values.
To modify the record:
1. Make sure the PositionID field value for the fourth record is still highlighted, indicating that
the table is in navigation mode.
2. Press the Ctrl+End keys. Access displays records from the end of the table and selects the
last field value in the last record. This field value is for the Openings field.
3. Press the Home key. The first field value in the last record is now selected. This field value
is for the PositionID field.
4. Press the key. The PositionID field value for the previous record (PositionID 2125) is
selected. This record is the one you need to change.
Elsa wants you to change these field values in the record: PositionID to 2124, EmployerID
to 10163, Wage to 14.50, Experience to “Yes” (checked), and EndDate to 10/15/2006.
5. Type 2124 , press the Tab key twice, type 10163 , press the Tab key, type 14.5 , press the
Tab key twice, press the spacebar to insert a check mark in the Experience check box,
press the Tab key twice, and then type 10/15/2006 . The changes to the record are com-
plete. See Figure 2-35.
