1.2 Format presentations by using slide masters
PowerPoint uses two types of elements to control the appearance of slides:
Themes These control the colors, fonts, effects, and background style of all the
slides in a presentation. Many themes include color variants that are identical in
all ways other than the color scheme.
Slide masters These control the layout, master style, and static slide elements of
specific types of slides.
These elements are closely interrelated in that applying a theme also applies a slide master,
and applying a slide master also applies a theme.
Apply and modify presentation themes
By default, PowerPoint applies the Office theme to all new, blank presentations. To
quickly change the appearance of a presentation, you can apply a different theme.
To change the appearance of all new presentations, you can set a different theme as the
default.
