Running and Using an App

To Display a Different Tab on the Ribbon
The tab currently displayed is called the active tab . The following step displays the INSERT tab, that is,
makes it the active tab. Why? When working with an office app, you may need to switch tabs to access other options for
working with a document.

Tap or click INSERT on the ribbon to display the INSERT tab (Figure 21).
Experiment
Tap or click the other tabs on the ribbon to view their contents. When you are nished, tap or click INSERT on the
ribbon to redisplay the INSERT tab.
If I am working in a different office app, such as PowerPoint or Access, how do I display a different tab on the ribbon?
Follow this same procedure; that is, tap or click the desired tab on the ribbon.

To display more of a document or other item in the window of an office app, some users prefer to collapse
the ribbon, which hides the groups on the ribbon and displays only the main tabs, or to use Full Screen mode ,
which hides all the commands and just displays the document. Each time you run an office app, such as Excel,
the ribbon appears the same way it did the last time you used that office app. The chapters in this topic, however,
begin with the ribbon appearing as it did at the initial installation of office or Excel.
The following steps collapse, expand, and restore the ribbon in Excel and then switch to Full Screen
mode. Why? If you need more space on the screen to work with your document, you may consider collapsing the ribbon or
switching to Full Screen mode to gain additional workspace.
