You can open multiple les in an office program, such as Excel, so that you can work on the les at the
same time. The following steps create a le, a blank workbook in this case, from the Backstage view. Why? You
want to create a new workbook while keeping the current workbook open.

Tap or click FILE on the ribbon to
open the Backstage view.
Tap or click the New tab in the
Backstage view to display the New
gallery (Figure 74).

Can I create les through
the Backstage view in other
ofce apps?
Yes. If the office app has a New
tab in the Backstage view, the
New gallery displays various
options for creating a new le.
