Using office Help
Once an office app’s Help window is open, several methods exist for navigating
Help. You can search for help by using any of the three following methods from the
1. Enter search text in the ‘Search online help’ text box.
2. Click the links in the Help window.
3. Use the Table of Contents.
To Obtain Help Using the
‘Search online help’ Text Box

Assume for the following example that you want to know more about charts. The following steps use the
‘Search online help’ text box to obtain useful information about charts by entering the word, charts, as search
text. Why? You may not know the exact help topic you are looking to nd, so using keywords can help narrow your search.
• Type charts in the ‘Search
online help’ text box
at the top of the Excel

• Tap or click the ‘Search online
help’ button to display the search
results (Figure 92).

Why do my search results differ?
If you do not have an Internet
connection, your results will
reect only the content of the
Help les on your computer.
When searching for help online,
results also can change as material
is added, deleted, and updated on
the online Help webpages maintained by Microsoft.
Why were my search results not very helpful?
When initiating a search, be sure to check the spelling of the search text; also, keep your search specic to
return the most accurate results.
